  • Storm Clouds Ahead: Budget Cuts Threaten Severe Weather Forecasts

Storm Clouds Ahead: Budget Cuts Threaten Severe Weather ForecastsThe tornado that hit Moore, Okla., on Monday (May 23) killed an estimated two dozen people and caused devastating property damage. Residents had advance warning of the storm, thanks to weather forecasts. But with forced budget cuts in effect, forecasters may not be adequately prepared for future natural disasters.

  • U.S. weather-watcher satellite fails just before hurricane season

NASA handout image of a winter snowstorm over the eastern United StatesBy Irene Klotz CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (Reuters) - A key satellite positioned to track severe weather in the eastern United States has failed, just as the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season is about to start. • Will Climate-Change-Fueled Superstorms Wipe Out London?

On Sunday, six days after a furious and deadly tornado, President Obama will reportedly head to Moore, Oklahoma. It took less than 48 hours for the truthers to furiously accuse the White House — perhaps by way of George Soros — of creating the tornado itself. If you thought 9/11 conspiracy theorists were bad, or the Sandy Hook and Boston bombing truthers were reckless, Obama's meteorological manipulation — all to distract a country from three Washington scandals — well, that might be a new level of ridiculous.
